During the Las Conchas fire, a dozer was run up the Quemazon Trail to increase its effectiveness as a fireline. The trail needs to be brought back to its original width, and some water control needs to be established. This work on the first mile of the trail is complete, but the remaining two miles have not been worked on.
We'll head up the trail to begin work on the second mile on Saturday, August 27. Meet at the Quemazon Trailhead near 48th and Trinity at 8:30 AM. We'll hike up the trail and work until about 2 PM or the first signs of lightning.
Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, sturdy shoes. Bring water, food, sunscreen. Tools and hard hats will be provided.
